Anuj Sharma presents drapes with exciting geometric angle at LFW 2008. Oct 19, 2007 MUMBAI: Anuj Sharma, who believes in pushing his creativity to the ultimate limits for Spring/Summer 2008 at Lakme Fashion Week on 17th October 2007 has created drapes in sexy geometric forms and kept the audience engrossed for a whole show. The designer used only satin in black and white and in a specific measurement of just 110 x 180 centimeters. Resembling the toga but in a more intricate manner with piping that varied from black, white, yellow to red for the two base fabrics, the Anuj felt that with such a limited amount of fabric he should allow it to fall into place according to its draping qualities. The uncut fabric was allowed to float around the body and then tied, tucked and folded into cowls, curves, rolls which cascaded down the figure from the front or back. Interesting silver geometric pieces was turned into solitary earrings, armlets, head band and also for the sandals on the feet. Anuj felt that since garments have also been cut, seamed darted and joined traditionally it would be quite an innovation to just allow the materials to behave according to their whims and fancies. Fathers, husbands, and boyfriends of the world will surely rejoice with such unconventional design techniques and praise Anuj Sharma for helping them keep a firm control on their purse strings.
