Ruchi creates stylish collection for factionist women at LFW 2008. Oct 19, 2007 MUMBAI: Ruchi Mehta's label ‘Salt’ for Spring/Summer 2008 at the Lakme Fashion Week on 17th October 2007 had an unusually "Kick the Addiction" titled collection with graceful lines, soft colours and interesting detailing. Two fashion sponsorship prizes will given away and the Swiss Textiles Award will be conferred on an international upcoming designer. The collection was a variety of shapes, fabrics and silhouettes which were completely feminine in nature with just the right touches of detailing to turn them into interesting semiformal wear. Shades of dusty green, black, soft brown, beige, had shapes that were similar to the somber colours. Loose tunics and bias cut dresses that swirled around the models. The sheer and opaque fabrics with delicate muted prints – the spiral motif - added to the beauty of the garments. The show opened with a black sexy trapeze top with tonal texturing and then moved onto a drop waist shift with sheer polka dots and then on to a tiered skirt with embroidery. The designer brought the tiered effect for most of the skirts which were often teamed with pleated printed beige dolman sleeve blouses or appeared for baby doll dresses with 3D ruffles. Quilted Obe belts added an oriental touch to the garments, while a kerchief dress had the most striking micro shrug. "Kick the Addiction" was quite an interesting line of stylish women's wear which could be a good addition for Spring/Summer 2008. Lakme Fashion Week Spring Summer 2008 has been scheduled at the city based National Center of Performing Arts (NCPA) from October 13-17 2007.
