Boy meets girl: Cupid struck when Sunil Dutt rescued Nargis from a freak fire that erupted on the sets of Mother India.
Wedding bells: March 11, 1958
Post-honeymoon: She made a comeback after marriage with Raat Aur Din. Her charitable work for spastics saw her nominated to the Rajya Sabha.
The story so far: Cancer struck and Nargis died in 1981, the same year her son Sanjay Dutt made his screen debut with Rocky. Sunil Dutt continues with inestimable contribution to politics and social work.

Dilip Kumar-Saira Banu
Boy meets girl: He was the intractable tragedy king. She was the sassy Kashmiri lass in Junglee. Heart-broken after his failed affair with Madhubala, Dilip Kumar fell for the beauteous Naseem Bano’s daughter.
Wedding bells: October 11, 1966
Post-honeymoon: They made appearances together in Gopi and Sagina and, Ramesh Talwar’s Duniya.
The story so far: Their marriage has been free of scandal, except when he briefly married Asma. This hardly caused a stir, as Dilip gained much sympathy for his desire to father an heir.

Randhir Kapoor-Babita
Boy meets girl: After working together in Kal Aaj Aur Kal, Randhir Kappor and Babita Shivdasani decided to seal their love match.
Wedding bells: November 6, 1971
Post-honeymoon: Babita gave up her acting career in true Kapoor tradition. But the marriage of the screen jujubes ended in acrimony.
The story so far: Babita manages the careers of daughters Karisma and Kareena. After directing Henna, Randhir Kapoor is managing affairs at RK Films.

Rajesh Khanna-Dimple Kapadia
Boy meets girl: He was at the height of his fame while she had just made her mark with Bobby.
Wedding bells: March 27, 1973
Post-honeymoon: The marriage did not last. But despite their differences, they acted opposite each other in Jai Shiv Shankar (unreleased).
The story so far: Rajesh is a proud grandfather to daughter Twinkle and son-in-law Akshay Kumar’s son, Aarav. The gorgeous grandmother continues to glow like the candles she creates.

Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya Bhaduri
Boy meets girl: When they got married, his star was just beginning to rise. She was already a celebrated actress.
Wedding bells: June 3, 1973
Post-honeymoon: They became a celebrated screen couple. Then Jaya took a long hiatus from the screen and raised their two children. Years later, she returned to act in the tantalising Silsila, at her husband’s request.
The story so far: The Rekha chapter, Bofors, every detail about the superstar’s chequered life has been chronicled with regularity. However, their marriage has remained stable.

Rishi Kapoor-Neetu Singh
Boy meets girl: Their successful on-screen partnership culminated in marriage.
Wedding bells: January 22, 1980
Post-honeymoon: Neetu gave up acting. Now their son Ranvir is ready to take a bow as an actor.
The story so far: Rishi’s bouts of drinking and temper have been a constant cause of friction between the two. But, despite running into rough weather, their marriage has coasted along.

Hema Malini-Dharmendra
Boy meets girl: After a whirlwind romance with Dharmendra, Hema Malini secretly wed the He-man hero, pioneering the trend of the second wife. Nevertheless, Hema has conducted herself with the same dignity off-screen as she had, on it.
Wedding bells: May 1980
Post-honeymoon: Hema faced hostile vibes from Dharam’s betas, Sunny and Bobby. Years later, there was a rapprochement. After a successful stint as an actress, Hema kick-started her career as a director with Dil Aashna Hai. Hell broke loose in the Deol household when Esha evinced a keen desire to join the movies.
The story so far: Dharmendra lives mostly on his farm in Khandala in a state of semi-retirement. Hema performs dance recitals, sometimes with daughters Esha and Aahna in tow.

Sanjay Dutt-Richa Sharma
Boy meets girl: Sanjay Dutt — the proverbial wild child — after a series of liaisons, finally took the plunge with Dev Anand-discovery Richa Sharma.
Wedding bells: October 1986
Post-honeymoon: The idyll was short-lived when, after the birth of their daughter Trishala, Richa was diagnosed with brain tumour. Richa flew to America for treatment. The marriage disintegrated further. While Sanjay Dutt flirted perilously close to danger, Richa breathed her last. Some years later, he married model Rhea Pillai.
The story so far: Dutt meets his daughter Trishala on his visits to the US. His relations with his former in-laws are strained though.

Jackie Shroff-Ayesha Dutt
Boy meets girl: Dev Anand-discovery Jackie married one-film wonder (Teri Bahon Mein) Ayesha. He went on to become one of the top-line Bollywood actors. Wedding bells: June 5, 1987
Post-honeymoon: Two kids, Tiger and Krishna, completed the perfect family picture. Besides his production company, Jackie also floated a dotcom.
The story so far: He has produced Grahan and is in the throes of completing his next film, Boom.

Saif Ali Khan-Amrita Singh
Boy meets girl: Their marriage sent shock waves through showbiz corridors. She gave Saif the much-needed sobriety.
Wedding bells: September 21, 1991
Post-honeymoon: They have two kids, Sara and Ebrahim. While his career slalomed to great heights, Amrita aka Dingy gave up the movies, her performances were restricted to the stray Shaheed

Kajol-Ajay Devgan

Post-honeymoon: She continues to act in the occasional Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, he makes waves with his turns in Company.

The story so far: Their marriage is under constant scrutiny. There have been occasional whispers of trouble (wonder what made them make public announcements of Kajol’s miscarriage?).

Twinkle Khanna-Akshay Kumar
Boy meets girl: His list of girlfriends includes Pooja Batra, Raveena Tandon and Shilpa Shetty. Eyebrows were raised when he started dating Twinkle secretly.
Wedding bells: January 17, 2001
Post-honeymoon: The couple had a high-profile engagement, attended by both, Rajesh Khanna and Sunny Deol. The marriage, in sharp contrast, was rushed and low-key.

Nagarjuna-Amala: Nagarjuna divorced his first wife (daughter of producer D Rama Naidu) to wed Amala.
