Hits of 1970s, GLAM AND GLORY...
The generation changed like the black and white movies in 1960's turned into interesting color movies. The youngster's style icons also changed. The period of chocolate romantic heros remained far away and the new generation loved the Angry young man Amitabh Bachchan very much. The image of this fighter angry young man made a new craze amoung youngsters and he taught the youngsters to fight for their ethics and rights rather than running behind the beautiful heroins in the garden. Don, Trishul, Amar Akbar Anthony, Sholay, Deewaar, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, Zanjeer are some of the examples. Don has been remaked by taking lead hero as Shahrukh Khan but the movie could not create the magic as Amitabh's movie. Well, but another chocolate hero make another style icon for teenage love birds. Rishi Kapoor was really cute and handsome boy when Bobby released. The youngest cute couple Choco face Rishi Kapoor and Beauty bomb Dimple Kapadia made a craze by the hit song "Hum tum ek kamre main band ho" and aother famous song "Jhoot bole kauwa katein kale kauwe se dariyo..." Raj kapoor was always experimenting for young viewers by choosing beauty bombshell actresses such as Zeenat Aman, Parween Babi, Dimple and Madakini.
The another versatile actor popular in 1970's was Sanjeev Kumar. His Trishul, Seeta Aur Geeta and Aandhi were very famous.
Aandhi was a very sensetive movie by very sensetive lyrist Guljar which was based on palytical base and also relationship between husband and wife. Sanjeev Kumar and Suchitra Sen lived that role. Seeta aur Geeta was comedy movie of tween girls ( which was remaked by stealing the same concept as Chalbaaz in which Shridevi played the roles of tweens). Hema Malini played the title roles and for simple Seeta, Dharmendra was co-star and for naughy Geeta, Sanjeev Kumar was as a hero. Do you know something? Sanjeev kumar was literally fida and bowled over Hema Malini. Though she was his dreamgirl, her dreamboy was Dharmendra, the lady killer handsome macho man Punjabi Munda. The beautiful South chhori married with this Punjabi munda and the sad soul Sanjeev Kumar became Devdas and started drinking in the sorrow of heart break.
Hema and Dharmendra then acted together in many movies as Jugnu and the block buster super duper hit Sholay in which Amitabh was also their co-star. The movie Sholay got unbelievable fame. The dialogues of Gubber were very popular even amoung children " Are oh Samba, Kitne aadmi the..." or " Ye hath hamko dede thakur" The movie was recognised by the characters in that. This movie gave the faces to all the characters in this movie as Jay and Veeru ( Ye dosti hum nahi chhodenge), Thakur, Basanti, Dhanno, Gabbar, Samba... Another fun about this movie is two real couples Hema-Dharmendra and Amitabh-Jaya played the couple roles in this movie. Sholay was a super duper duper....hit movie and no one can reach upto that limelight...not even Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag, which was a very dump remake of this superhit film though Big B Amitabh Bachchan played role of Gabbar. He could not even make thriller in the role like Amjad Khan. Ramgopal Varma ki aag failed to make even the light.
Amitabh also acted in comedy movie Chupke chupke with Jaya as his heroin. The lead hero in that movie was Dharmendra. The another excellent romantic movie of Amtabh was Kabhi Kabhi... " The famous sweet song Kabhi Kabhi mere dil me khayal ata he..." Amitabh was romantic hero with angry young man image which was a perfect dreamboy image for all the young girls that time.
Abhiman was the excellent movie by real life couple Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan. The very nice role he played as an egoestic man who loves his singer wife and inspires her for playback singing but feels jealous when he realises he got lesser fame as a singer than his wife. Again a very nice relationship story between husband wife.
Mr. Raj Kapoor made a movie for "natural beauty lovers" ;) i.e. Satyam Shivam Sunderam. Zeeni baby was always ready to show off her "natural beauty"! Zeenat Aman became very famous because of this movie as compared to male co-actor Shashi Kapoor. Oh not a wonder why we don't remember the actors in the Bipasha's movies...:)
The another movie of Zini Baby was Don, Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin, Hare rama hare krishna and Yaadon Ki Baraat. Don was totally movie of Big B Amitabh and Hum kisi se kum nahin is remembered as Rishi Kapoor's movie. But Zinat was amazing with her simple and stylish beauty in Yaadon Ki Baraat in the very famous song "Chura liya he tumne jo dilko..." and the co-actor Vijay Arora was really dumbo in front of Stylish Zini baby. Hare rama hare krishna was the movie of a hippi group and a search of a brother for his lost sister. Dev Anand played the role of brother and Zeenat Aman played role as his sister who got involved in druggist hippis' group. The very famous song sung by Asha Bhosle "Dum maro Dum" gave zeenat much name and fame. Also the sweet song of little brother and sister's love "Phoolonka taaronka sabka kahna he" also make you hum the sweet tune.
Anand was Rajesh Khanna's excellent movie. A very sweet sensetive story of a Cancer patient though how he lives his life happily by sprading joy amoung the people around him till the end of his life and his positive attitude towards life. Very nice story giving inspiration and also melodious songs. You can't forget Rajesh Khanna's smily face, his superb acting, his style to call as "Babumoshaaay", Amitabh Bachchan, the Babumoshay and the natural acting by marathi couple Ramesh and Seema Dev.
Rajesh was also nice in his another movie Kati Patang in which asha parekh played the lead role of a sad widow.
There was another movie Sachcha Jhoota in which Rajesh played double role of two brothers, one good soul and one bad soul.
A melodius movie Julie was also very nice about the love story of a christian girl and a hindu boy. South heroin Lakshmi was as and in Julie and Sridevi was very small played a role of Julie's little sister.
Guddi of Jaya Bhaduri, Pakeezah of Rajkumar and Meena Kumari and Caravan of Aasha Parekh, aruna Airani and jumping jack Jitendra was also nice movies in 1970.
Mera Naam Joker became super hit after the death of Raj Kapoor.
