Celebrating Africa through fashion in London:

09th May 2007

Celebrating African culture through the arts, media and fashion has long been something of pride for many individuals, particularly those of African descent. The importance of acknowledging these 2 significant dates in history in the UK is yet another step towards celebrating the diversity of this nation.

Don Fabio, is a London based urban fashion label with a history of staying at the forefront of street fashion, with garments that are simple yet vibrant in their designs. Being of African/Ghanaian origin, the label’s designer William Ofosu-Apea A.K.A Fabio fuses ethnic with the urban to create a style which celebrates originality. “Innovation, culture, ethnic, urban, style and power are the keywords to the basis of my designs.” Says Fabio.

Don Fabio’s latest collection of T-shirts and Vest tops for both men and women feature powerful images including that of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, first president and prime minister of Ghana – the first Sub-Saharan African nation to become independent. The poignancy of this visual imagery is distinct recognition of the influence that Africa has in fashion and the arts in the UK. Don Fabio seeks to celebrate Africa with this collection and encourages the multi-cultural nature of its client base. This celebration is more than just for the year but for many years to come, helping to promote positive images of African culture and ethnicity in London and the UK.
