Women who are a bit heavier should buy saris, which are light like georgette, silk chignon or chiffon. For the gorgeous option they can try heavy Mysore silk sarees or silk based Kanjeevaram, which looks beautiful and one tends to look slimmer.

For shorter women they should buy saris with small borders or no borders. They should definitely avoid big borders as big borders make one look shorter. Big border are mainly for women who have a good height. For short woman they can go for self or single color it will make them look taller.

Thin women should buy saris, which are a bit fluffy like organza, cotton fabric, tissue and tussar saris. These saris give a fuller effect and give a broad look.

What is a White wedding?

A white wedding is a traditional formal or semi-formal Western wedding. The term refers to the white color of the wedding dress, which became popular in the Victorian era, after Queen Victoria wore a white lace dress at her wedding. Various theories for the meaning of this color choice have been put forward, from an appreciation of color symbolism, to represent purity of heart and the innocence of childhood, to an effort by the monarch to promote lace sales, to conspicuous consumption by status-conscious families, because a white dress could be easily damaged and was therefore common only among wealthy families. Later, it was believed that the color white symbolized virginity and should be worn only by a virgin bride.

Today, Western wedding dresses are usually white, though "wedding white" includes creamy shades such as eggshell, ecru and ivory. One of the first women to wear white at her wedding was Mary Queen of Scots, when she married François II of France. However, white was not then a tradition but rather a choice and one considered inauspicious, since white was the official colour of mourning in France at the time.

Over the centuries, brides continued to dress in a manner befitting their social status—always in the height of fashion, with the richest, boldest materials money could buy. The poorest of brides wore their best church dress on their wedding day. The amount of material a wedding dress contained also was a reflection of the bride's social standing and indicated the extent of the family's wealth to wedding guests. Today, there are wedding dresses available in all price ranges, and Western traditions have loosened up to include a rainbow of colors and variety of lengths, which are now considered acceptable.

Many wedding dresses in China are colored red, the traditional color of good luck. In modern Chinese weddings, the bride usually opts for the white Western dress or changes from a white gown to a red gown later in the day and sometimes a gold-colored gown later on. In Japan, brides will often wear three or more dresses throughout the ceremony and subsequent celebrations with a traditional kimono, white and colour dress combination being popular.

In northern parts of India, the traditional color of women's wedding garments is red, a color symbolizing auspiciousness. Green, a colour symbolizing fertility, is also commonly used. Nowadays, many women opt not to wear red and choose other colors. South Indian weddings traditionally use white or cream-colored saris. Indian brides in Western countries often wear the sari at the wedding ceremony and change into traditional Indian wear afterwards (like lehnga, choli, etc.). (Courtesy: wikipedia)
